About 3c2F

Throughout history, music has played an important part in the expression of political views, and resistance to totalitarian suppression of thought. During the Vietnam war, music provided an important backdrop for each of the varied points-of-view:
- We Gotta Get Out of This Place
- Fortunate Son
- Okie From Miskogee
- Ballad of the Green Berets
- Eve of Destruction
- Dawn of Correction
- Volunteers
- Give Peace a Chance.
It provided, and still provides, a platform of hope for racially oppressed peoples around the globe:
- Downpressor Man
- Reggae Down Babylon
- Society’s Child, Freedom
- No Woman No Cry
- We Shall Overcome
Three Chords to Freedom (3c2F) is a place to talk about your favorite political pieces. I’ve been laying groundwork for this project for some time, and initially it seemed appropriate that it should go under the Mary Jane Bann’d umbrella. Mary Jane Bann’d was intentionally political from the get-go. In the time since the site’s inception, we’ve expanded our concept, and moved it from the MJB umbrella to its own domain. You can find us either at threechordstofreedom.com or simply 3c2f.com.
In addition to music related articles, we look to the daily news for stories of repression and the suppression of ideas, and the twisted souls who practice them. Sometimes we comment, sometimes we might even pen a brand new lyric… and sometimes it’s worth an award:
- Our “My Cranial Cavity is Full of Bricks and Sh*t Award” is open ended. Sometimes it goes to lifestyle oppressors, or the stifler’s of women’s rights, or just being plain stupid in the public eye.
- Our “Oinkers in Paradise Award” goes to organizations, companies, and leaders who don’t mind shining on a little human rights abuse… hell, a LOT of human rights abuse… as long as there’s some money in it.
- And the “Monosyllabic Vocabulary Award”… you’ve seen the posts around the net. The most vitriolic haters of this and that always seem to rant in short, misspelled words and crappy grammar.
In respect for the composers copyrights, please do not post any complete lyrics. If you post excerpts from pieces of music, please ensure that the composer is credited in your posting. To ensure that due diligence is taken for copyright protection, all posts to this forum will be moderated.
Warmest Regards and Welcome
